Calling Romania
Anyone else, particularly in USA, having trouble calling Romanian mobile phones, particularly Vodaphone (formerly Connex) customers (number would be 407 2x xxx xxx)?

I don't think that is necessarily a Vodaphone #. 40 is International code for Romania, 72 is mobile access. I use NobelCom calling cards and haven't had any trouble calling my girl lately. haven't tried today tho, and I'm not sure what her carrier is

I've been calling Ro for the last year or so and had trouble when I had Versizon Wireless. But noe since switching to AT&T and using my iphone...its like she is sitting right next to me. (God I wish!)

Actually, in USA, one first dials 011 to dial directly to Europe without dealing with an operator. So, to call a host or friend in Romania, I dial 011 407 2x xxx xxx.

LOL use a calling card then you dial 1-800 xxx-xxx then a PIN xxxx-xxx-xxx then 011-40-72 xxx-xxx and by that time your finger has cramps and a blister has developed on the tip of your finger LOL But i'm just scrooge enough that 5 cents a minute as opposed to direct dial is worth it to my sore and troubled finger hahaha

I use the Bucuresti cell phone , but its' been a long time since I bought it and prices may have changed. Also since I print out my own card I don't remember which version in particular i am using. probably the one with the best price per minute... and not any expiration.

I think "thousands" may be an overstatement. I think the numbers who actually meet from sites like this are relatively few.... if by "Meet" you mean getting together in real life. Well actually, as the consensus of this thread is that most members seem to ignore the ratings anyway, it isn't really that unhelpful. I always give every host 5* too: good or bad they are only trying to earn a living like the rest of us.

1. To try and balance out the members who give 1 star for ridiculous reasons (In my opinion).
2. Exactly as you said - to try and be unhelpful to the members that give 1 star for ridiculous reasons (and also to a sizeable number of members who post on these forums whinging about this and that).
Unfortunately my disdain for those members outweighs any desire I have to help other members.

I have not ever given a rating of below 4* If i have had a bad time with a host I click the 'do not wish to rate this host ' option. The next guy might have a great time with a host who i consider to be less than satisfactory.
