The truth is if you feel you have a need to ask questions about a hosts past, her friends, her family if she is known scammer etc then the trust you need for a happy marriage is already lost. Speaking of documentation, I posted a question on Viewers Only concerning the gender of someone who I believe is a drag queen posing as a female. And while CC would not give me the details of the application process, they did admit that the documents were sent electronically. Thinking a bit more about your interesting question, several things occur to me. First off, I agree it is a widely held belief regarding the politics of sexual relationships---especially marriage---that women are more concerned about money and men about sex. However, it is easy to see how this view developed given the historical realities of relations between the sexes. Up until relatively recently, a woman was regarded as a man’s property, mere chattel, an asset like cattle (from which, btw, the word “chattel” derives.) The idea of a woman having political rights is a very recent development (and still the exception in most non-Western societies), corresponding to the novel romantic notion of a man and a woman marrying for love, i.e. against the practice of arranged marriages and/or the patriarch of a tribe promising his daughter to a member of another tribe, with the understanding that a “bride price” will be paid to the girl’s family. That price is negotiated between the fathers of the prospective couple. The men will quibble over whether the girl is worth two cows or three, for example.

Even as women acquired more political power, they were still largely economically dependent on men. American women got a taste of economic independence during WWII when they worked in the factories (“Rosie the Riveter” is a well known figure to the WWII generation) while their husbands were off to war. But after the war, women again largely assumed the “stay-at-home” mom role. (Indeed the Nazi’s were intent on discouraging women from seeking more political & economic independence with their propaganda campaign of “Kirche, Kuche, Kinde,” [“Church, Kitchen, Children”]). Only in the 60’s did things begin to change as regards women entering the work force in large numbers.

So, it’s understandable why women have placed a high premium on men having money, since little economic opportunities were open to them. (My grandmother left my grandfather in 1929 and went to work in a sewing factory for $12 a week—10 hr days/M-F. It was no picnic!) Thus women’s focus was/is on money and men’s focus, or so the perception goes, was/is on sex. No doubt there is the vestige of belief among men that if they are paying a woman’s way, they are entitled to repayment in the form of sexual gratification.

But it’s not that simple, because this political/economic explanation doesn’t take the biological element into account, even if---as some believe---the economic and political developments are ultimately rooted in the biological differences (of size, strength, mentality) between the sexes. The fact that the males are the pursuers and the females the pursued no doubt contributes to the perception that men are more interested in sex. Among the mammals it is undeniable that the males compete over who will win (or less delicately “mount”) the females in heat. We human beings may be “a little lower than the angels,” (Proverbs), but we have an animal nature as well. Perhaps that’s why most women complain that “All men are beasts,” even if they wouldn’t have it any other way!! In sum, these roles and stereotypes are deeply rooted in our evolution as a species. Our consciousness is formed by these developments, hence our perceptions. Of course the complimentary and equally prejudiced question is to ask a woman if she would marry a man with no money. The unfortunate result of both these questions is that they fail to question the forces that give rise to them. The questions themselves are a function of the underlying dynamic that goes unexamined. The forces are real, true, but there are more fundamental forces at work. Looking at the question of economic security and sexual desire without the prejudicial overlay simplifies somewhat the whole “Love or Money” question.

The matter of economic security is the easiest to answer because there is no ambiguity. We all need to survive. Who, after all, isn’t motivated in a primary way by this need? If mankind was, by some unforeseen calamity, suddenly reduced to his original primitive state and all the economic inequities were stripped away and rendered irrelevant, would not men and women cooperate in an effort to insure their survival? Would each not do what would most likely guarantee their survival and that of their offspring? Would the women not stay put, care for the children, plant a garden and create some sense of home and hearth? (Surely we don’t think she would apply for a job as an “Employee Benefits Coordinator!”) And would the men not go out to hunt and gather to insure that his wife and children would be provided for? And would he not do everything in his power to repel any aggressor that would threaten his person or property? Different roles? Yes, but roles largely determined by biology. These roles Marx described as the “first division of labor.” Roles that have evolved into undeniable inequities were originally a matter of biological necessity. Bottom line: men and women both desire economic security. Whether women enjoy sex more than men, who can say. I suspect some women do, others not. My gut feeling and experience tell me it’s largely a matter of individual passion, not a question of which sex likes sex more.

I was in love with a russian woman..

we also met, spent time together , in russia and also in Uk.. i even bought another flight ticket, but when she could not make it, because of family problems , she returned the money , even on a non refund ticket.. That is a russian woman , with pride and honesty, we met again a few months later.
