Gun in Australia

Genuine reasons (as they relate to weapon categories)
Category A and Category B weapons
Category A and B firearms are commonly used for a variety of purposes. Under the new laws, ownership of weapons within these categories is widely available.

You may apply for a licence for category A and B firearms if you are:

A member of an approved shooting club
For sports or target shooting, you need to provide proof that you are a current member of an approved shooting club. This may be a current membership card if you are applying in person, or a statement endorsed by the approved club, if you are mailing in your application.

A recreational shooter
You need to provide written permission from a landowner authorising you to shoot on the landowner's rural land. Providing details about the location, size and use of the land will assist in the processing of your application.

An occupational or rural shooter
This includes those owning a gun for rural purposes. You need to state why possession of a firearm is necessary for you to conduct your business or your job.

A firearms collector
Collections of category A and B guns may be owned if they are made temporarily inoperable.

Other reasons
Conducting a military re-enactment or an historical demonstration; starting a sporting event; or for a theatrical production.

Category C weapons
Category C firearms are restricted to ownership by primary producers, occupational shooters and competition clay target shooters. The ownership and use of category C firearms is restricted to those with specific occupational, rural or sporting needs.

You may apply for a licence for category C firearms if you are:

A competition clay target shooter
To own a category C shotgun, you must be a member of an approved shooting club that takes part in, or is affiliated with a body that takes part in, national and international clay target shooting competition.

If you bought your category C firearm or joined an approved club after 14 November 1996, you must demonstrate a physical need, due to lack of strength or dexterity, to use a category C firearm in clay target shooting. You will need to provide a statement supporting the existence of your need, signed by an authorised representative of an approved club. You may use the category C firearm at an approved range for clay target shooting and training purposes.

An occupational or rural shooter
If you have a need to own a category C firearm for a rural purpose which cannot be satisfied in another way, you can apply for a licence to own one category C rifle or shotgun, or both. You will need to be a primary producer or occupational shooter involved in work on rural land. Rural land means land not situated in any city or town or, in the case of a shire, in any township in the shire. Providing details about the size and use of the land will assist in the processing of your application.
In a circumstance where you need more than one category C rifle and one category C shotgun, you may only apply if the need arises because of the area or the location of the land involved. You may only use these firearms to satisfy the need stated on the licence.

A collector
You may own category C firearms if they are made temporarily inoperable.

Category D weapons
Ownership of category D firearms is restricted depending upon the reason for use. Category D firearms are generally only used for specific rural purposes such as culling large animals or stock control.

You may apply for a licence for category D firearms if you are:

In need of a firearm for occupational culling of large animals
You may apply for one category D firearm if you have a need, that cannot be satisfied in another way, to cull large animals. This need must be related to your business or employment.

You may only use the firearm for the purpose stated on the licence. The maximum term for a licence is one year.

A collector
You may own category D firearms if they are made permanently inoperable.

Category H weapons
Category H firearms include handguns and pistols and are generally used by pistol club shooters or the security industry.
You may apply for a licence for a category H firearm if you are:

A pistol club shooter
You will need to provide proof of current membership of an approved club. Other conditions apply – refer to Handgun Legislation Information – Sports and Target Shooters.

Occupational
You need a category H firearm for your occupation, such as the security industry and, in some cases, primary production.

A firearms collector
Category H firearms can be collected if they are made either temporarily or permanently inoperable. Handguns manufactured after 1900 that are temporarily inoperable must be shown to have an obvious and significant commemorative, historic, thematic or investment value and owners must be members of an approved historical society. It should be noted that all Category H firearms which have been rendered permanently in-operable are required to be registered to a licence and are no longer defined as replicas. Further conditions apply – refer to Handgun Legislation Information – Collectors.

Category M weapons
From 1 July 2003 Category M weapons are included in the Weapons Categories Regulation 1997. Category M include martial arts devices, crossbows, incendiary or inflammable devices and flick knives. Certain category M weapons can be held on a Collector’s, Miscellaneous or Group licence.

Category R weapons
Category R firearms include fully automatic machine guns and sub machine guns. Category R firearms are generally prohibited. Some licensees may possess some category R firearms if they are certified as permanently inoperable, or permanently restricted to blank-fire.

Restricted Items
A person must not, without reasonable excuse, possess or acquire a restricted item. All items must be securely stored when not in use.

What is an antique firearm?
An antique firearm is one manufactured before 1 January 1901 that is either; muzzle loading; or cap and ball; or a type approved as an antique by an authorised officer; or for which ammunition is not commercially available. Antiques are not required to be licenced however must be registered with the Weapons Licensing Branch within 14 days of acquisition.

What if my firearm is a family heirloom?
If the firearm is an heirloom, you must state in writing in your licence application that it has been willed to you or that you acquired it through the laws of succession. All categories of firearms must be made permanently inoperable.

Owning a firearm should be a privalage , NOT a RIGHT..

RE: Gun in Australia

I agree with you in a way, but I also was raised in a country (USA) where a part of our constitution gives us "the right to keep and bear arms" I struggle with this concept a lot as I think of the shootings at Virginia Tech University. I know that "arms" does not necessarily refers to "firearms", but I do know that I have the right to bear "arms" or "weapons" in defense of my home is a part of the "Bill of Rights". I have several friends who say that 9-11 would never had occurred if weapons had been on the planes before they hit the twin towers. However the "wild west" in USA had several shooting because of firearms. As you see I have mixed emotions over this issue as a citizen of the USA.

RE: Gun in Australia

Had there been weapons aboard the planes on 9/11, the planes would have crashed all over New York with a lot more casualties and damage. You overlooked that the hijackers would have also been armed and a a shoot out on the plane would have ensued. Not being a murkan, I will withhold my comments about the "right to bear arms' rhetorics.

RE: Gun in Australia

48 of the 50 states have passed concealed carry or have carry laws for firearms, these states also require training and shown knowledge of the laws governing the use and carry of firearms, each state that has allowed hese rights to the citizens, has encountered a remarkable thing, Violent Crime, has been reduced in each state that allows the carry of firearms, by as much as 25%, the two remaining state to allow , have had violent crime increases, I live in one of these two states, my bad luck. You can not take a Violent crimed, by a sick and deranged person, using a firearm, and construe all firearms are bad and must be eliminated, #1 weapon of of choice in Mexico is the machette, everyone can get one and no restrictions or lisense required. Black market firearms are the 2nd popular, as it takes money and contacts to aquire the firearms. Unfortunately, gangs and gangsters dealing in drugs, slavery, prostitution, etc will have the means to always purchase illegal firearms, personally with the high amount of crimes worldwide, I will not leave my self and family unprotected, the Law enforcement personell, can not protect you and your family, they can only arrive in time to file reports and maybe track down the "bad guys" but by then the damages are done. I know this as a fact, most the people I deal with are Law Enforcement, I hear it straight from their own mouths. Not long ago, I was reading in Australia, that has for most concerned banned public ownership of firearms, that Law Enforcement personell have been actually ambushed by crimninals, criminals with superior and ILLEGAL firearms, the sole purpose of the ambush? To attain the firearms of the Law enforcement personnell, When only criminals have firearms, and like most things there will always be a blackmarket selling any items, then no ones life will be safe. I prefer and will always stand bye my rights to protect my life and my familys life, and that I will always be able to have sporting and recreational use of my firearms. RE: Gun in Australia

If it's a matter of citizens meting out vigilante justice, they should be licensed and trained WELL in taking that kind of responsibility. They should fully understand the consequences of someone being grievously injured by their actions, and they should face full prosecution if their use of that gun isn't justified or if it causes any single innocent to suffer.
It's sickening that the shooter in Virgina was able to walk into a gun shop with nothing but three forms of ID and a clean criminal record and walk out with an easily concealable handgun capable of firing 16 shots in as quickly as it takes to squeeze a trigger.
If a citizen wants the assume the role of a police officer, he should at least get the training a police officer gets.

Reply

RE: Gun in Australia

From personal experience, most Officers can not shoot worth a damn, have little practical experience and probably have never had to draw their weapon once in the line of duty, they are not there when the weapon should be used in defense of the public, 97% of the time. Vigilante justice is not what i talk about, but self-defense is, EX You and your 14 daughter are walking the streets of a big city, 3 "bad guys" push you both back into an alley, they threaten you with a few large knives, their words, give us your money, and after we get your cash we are going to rape your daughter!, I happen by the street see this occurring and hear their words, You want me to call 911! ( Average police response time is 5-9 mins if you are lucky, you want me to shout at the guys and tell them to leave you alone? i doubt they would listen, you want me to be able to draw my own firearm and scare the guys off saving you and your daughter? Or if this is really a true story, most passersby are not able to carry firearms, are to scared and do not care to get involved, will do nothing to help you and leave the scene quickly, as you are robbed, probably hurt or killed and your daughter is a plaything for the enjoyment of "the bad guys" before she is killed also, Can't leave any witness ?

tit monday

Ah, Tit Monday. It's not that far off now...

That glorious day when, heading into work on the bus, or walking to the tube, or sitting on the train, you find yourself suddenly chirpier than you have been in months. You find yourself smiling at strangers again. There is a mild involuntary tumescence in your trousers that comes and goes throughout the morning with the comforting regularity of a heartbeat.

And then you get a text around lunchtime from a mate which says: "At last, Tit Monday!" And you instantly understand why you are so happy. For Tit Monday is that special day in the year when, for the first time, the temperature rises above that magical point which causes girls getting dressed in the morning to decide to show a bit of skin.

After months of dull colours and chunky knit, the world's birds suddenly dive into last summer's wardrobe (they've not had chance to buy this season's stuff) and chuck it on without a thought. Your urban landscape is suddenly lightened with acres of naked arm and leg and, after many dark months of burrowing, breasts rising to the surface like moles at dusk.

Big breasts in white work shirts straining at the buttons. Small breasts braless in vest tops, the nipples frotted by ribby fabrics. Breasts in summer dresses bouncing in the distance so that they catch your eye before you even notice there is someone wearing them. Breasts nudging out from the crowd at traffic islands, quivering to cross the road...

And you know it is nearly summer. For previous generations, the arrival of spring was heralded by the sound of the first cuckoo. For us, it is Tit Monday.

Not that it always falls on a Monday. Like Easter, Tit Monday is a moveable feast. Last year it fell on a Friday. Friday 29 April, to be precise, when temperatures maxed out at 22.1C after nothing much above 16C all year. It last fell on a Monday in 2004, when temperatures leapt to 22C on 24 April.

And then, of course, there is Tit Monday Night. You see, in early summer, temperatures drop off very dramatically when night falls (Tit Friday 2005 dropped away to a parky 11.8C). But the dollies are not prepared. Slightly stunned by the morning heat, they drag out the summer clothes but forget to bring a cardie (a mistake they will not make again until next year), so that when they're all standing outside All Bar One after work celebrating the arrival of spring, their barely covered nipples have no protection from the cold. It's like a Bring-and-Buy sale where everyone has brought hat pegs. It's like a prog-rock gig where, instead of lighters, everyone is holding up nipples.

So when will Tit Monday fall this year? Will you be the first to text your mates with the announcement? Do not shoot your bolt too early. There will be false starts. You will smell fresh cut grass and see a couple of early starters and feel compelled to declare Tit Monday. But your more level-headed friends will tell you to hold your horses, keep your powder dry, don't fire until you see the whites of their bra straps.

As the poet said: one bold Northern slapper in a bikini doth not a summer make.

Only the suckers will get scammed, those of us with a brain know what's going on. I say, if you can scam the guy, then more power to you, a fool and his money are soon parted anyways, why not cash in in on a sucker, it might teach him a lesson in the long run.

Reply

RE: who else

i think it depends what the members mean by being scammed really - if hosts are just pretending to like them a bit more than they actually do then that is fair game and basically is part of the job.
if we are talking hosts saying that they need money for operations etc etc when in reality they just want to go off on holiday then i think the host has gone past the boundary of what is acceptable within the "job" and is moving closer to stealing/fraud/scamming or whichever word you would like to use.
obviously the members are at fault for sending the money but if they genuinely believe the story and it is not simply an investment hoping for free sexual services at a later date then i think they are entitled to feel they have been scammed.
i am at work and earning money but if a customer comes to me and i overcharge him/charge him twice/pick up some money he dropped/steal his wallet then even though i am here to earn money from him i would still have basically stolen money from him (whether we are calling it scamming or whatever).

RE: who else

i think it depends what you are saying you don't think is a scam?
are you saying that pretending you need an operation and asking people to send money by western union is not a scam?
or are you saying that saying to members that they are good looking/a nice age/great fun in video in order to earn more money is not a scam?
in my opinion the 2 are very very different

Riv & johnzhon,

It seems to me that neither one of you recognizes the important distinction that both “officeboy and “when?” make above. Riv, I agree with your initial premise. You are here of your own choice, but that does not support your conclusion. It is rather like saying if you were assaulted in a pub, you would not consider it assault because you entered the pub of your own free will. Or maybe your liberal sensibilities are of the sort H.L.Mencken satirized when he defined a liberal as “someone so open-minded, he will not argue his own case.” Lol!

Johnzhon, I’m not sure whether to take your words at face value, or interpret them as subtly ironic and cloaked in a thin veneer of hard realism. If at face value, there’s something that rings false when you say, “I don’t get mad if your [sic] scamming me.” To think that you would not, does not seem credible. In fact, it seems almost self-evident that one would get angry at being scammed and no less self-evident why any host would get angry when treated like an object. In both actions there is a basic disregard for and failure to acknowledge the humanity of the other. Just because the site is by nature one of fantasy, does not mean we are given a dispensation from a basic regard for each other’s dignity.

does that explain it clearly enough? and why the fuck did you drag my wife in this? point of fact if you need i rarely speak to her at all on the phone and when she returns i will speak the same amount, she is of no use to me and is in my way. i have told her twice and i have no need to tell her again. if you have more to say, say it on a new post, i do not intend an scrooling this far anymore.

RE: who else

Mike, that sounds good, but "allowing" means one must be cognizant of it in the first place. To be successfully "scammed" one is, by definition, caught unawares. I recognize, however, that we are all at times wilfully blind, refusing to see what is obvious to everyone else. Thus the saying, "There is none so blind as he who does not want to see." In cases such as these, I would agree with you, one is on some level "allowing" oneself to be scammed. In all others, no.

i think the loner word is often used slightly simplistically in these cases to explain these things away.
and at least here most of the members are so far away from most of the hosts that they couldn't do any real damage :)
although having said that i am sure i have seen "jacques chirac" in comm chat a few times in the last week and he still has nuclear weapons for a few more weeks - so can i politely suggest that hosts try not to upset him too much for all our sakes!

There was a gentleman on BBC's Radio 5 who was bemoaning the fact that the campus was designated a "Gun Free Zone". His argument was that if the other people had been allowed to carry guns, then the shooter may have been stopped earlier.

I agree completely. Had any or all of those students been armed, the shooter is dead long before he could waste 31 of them.

RE: no guns allowed

Eliminating guns and removing are rights is not the answer. Drugs are illegal and you can't buy them in stores, but does that stop people from getting them if they want them? NO.

Same with guns, you remove our right to own them, you are hurting millions and millions of honest responsible gun owners while the criminals etc can get what they want anytime.

The cure is tougher laws...eye for eye...you kill...you die.

RE: no guns allowed

I don't understand why a handgun can bought with only an instant background check and a waiting period in Virginia, yet the process to get the concealed weapons permit to actually take it anywhere is so much more difficult. If I understand correctly, to get that permit you have to first be approved by a judge to have it.
It just doesn't make sense that a handgun would even be sold to someone without that permit in the first place.
And why assault rifles, whose specific purpose is to be fired at human beings, are legal for common citizens in America, I have no idea.
Care to explain?

short lesson on the US Constitution

The right to "bear arms" does not come from the 1800s. It was written into the constitution in 1791 as Amendment II, part of the "Bill of Rights" (the fist 10 amendments to the US Constitution).

AMENDMENT II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

more guns - more fear in life
more fear - more distrust to all
more distrust - less love to people
less love - less value of human life
less value - easier to kill someone using your gun

Now I know some are going to ask why I'm still here at cc now. Well my anwser is I like, wait I love coming here and playing out by fantasy here. Where else can you do that. This is a great site. So my advice to you, is lie back to them and see how far it gets you in more action here

Trueman, As you know, only you can answer that question and remember, you are a part of the dynamic. I say that because it is all-too-human to want to believe your gf/wife/lover is telling you the truth. So, she lies to you and you lie to yourself. But your heart knows otherwise.

So, if you think the relationship can be repaired, as someone above said, talk with her. If she wants to make it work she will stop the dissembling; if not she will continue her lying and insincere behavior. If that is the case, I'd say cut bait now and don't torture yourself a minute longer.

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

Just listened to BBC radio interview with survivors from Columbine High School massacre - very similar to this one but with fewer dead. Consensus was that there is a feeling of hopelessness in USA about gun control. Any efforts to limit their ownership would be mostly cosmetic - millions of handguns in America. The murderer in this case only had a handgun, not a high-powered assault rifle.

My heart bleeds for America at this time but what can you all actually do to stop it happening again and again?

Reply

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

yes, this is another awful tragedy - and it amazes me that guns are still so easily available over in america - and i even saw this on the yahoo news story about the shootings which i thought was unbelievable even coming from a pro-gun spokesman.........
HEATED GUN DEBATE
More than 30,000 people die from gunshot wounds in the United States every year and there are more guns in private hands than in any other country.
But a powerful gun lobby and support for gun ownership rights have largely thwarted attempts to tighten controls.
Advocates of gun ownership rights saw Monday's massacre as evidence of the need to relax gun laws rather than tighten them.
"All the school shootings that have ended abruptly in the last 10 years were stopped because a law-abiding citizen -- a potential victim -- had a gun," said Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America.
"The latest school shooting at Virginia Tech demands an immediate end to the gun-free zone law which leaves the nation's schools at the mercy of madmen."

Reply

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

So a very different perspective in USA to UK. After Dunblane, all guns banned here. Doesn't stop drug dealers in UK shooting each other and innocent bystanders though with smuggled firearms.

Sad time, thoughts with their families.

Reply

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

but 30,000 people dying from gunshot wounds every year in America is a ridiculous number - i seem to remember some months ago someone posted something here saying that a higher proportion of people (or possibly adult males?) in one american city (Washington?) were killed each year than the proportion of American serviceman who have been killed in Iraq - i had assumed that was a joke/not true but that sort of figure makes me wonder if that was actually correct! :(

Reply

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

its a true number and over 100,000 / yr are injured. I live in usa and its a holdover from the days when you needed one here in the wilderness and this strange culture of it being a "right" put in the bill of rights and some perverted part of being free also. I think its also mostly in certain parts of the country like the west where guns are part of the culture and hunting too.

Overall its obsolete for most people but the gun lobby here is very very strong so its one of those things pols stay away from since they are going to lose more than win from going after it. Maybe its nature's way of birth control too :) and just another part of being "too" free.

Horrible.

Reply

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

Oh no, don't blame it on the games.. I know several gamers, one is playing for about 7 years now and he played a lot.. and has he killed anyone? Nope. He didn't hurt anyone and he didn't have either the best life, so leave the games and the movies aside. Those influence only the weak, the stupid, the ones that can't make the difference between real life and games.

I'm sorry for all those that got killed.. makes one wonder if your child should be born in such a world.

Reply

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

Reasons or incentives can be different including games and movies, but i see the biggest reason in lack of love. If a child gets enough love from his parents, if parents love each other and build a strong field of love around themselves, then he grows up as a normal healthy personality and nothing can influence him to hurt people (especially without any reason!) It's animal's feral instinct if someone kills another (animals are even kinder in this case, they kill only to survive!) ...Soooo LOVE will save this world! This is my deep belief.

"I think I'll loose my mind if my kid will be killed like that... Nothing made me loose my mind so far, but that one would make me go insane crazy..."

That's why they say: those who are killed or died with natural death DON'T suffer, but those who left by them DO...and sometimes many years or even whole life!
This is a very difficult moment of life to bear a death of loved ones. This moment can change u entirely. It's a lesson for your soul which will be given to u sooner or later, to EVERYONE in this world, coz we all die someday. And those who fill their hearts with anger to a murder or try to find someone guilty and punish him - will give this world more anger and get much more in return again, like a vicious circle.
I wish everyone to be wise to get out of that circle and forgive those who are guilty even if they don't regret about that (or forgive yourself if u think u are guilty) and continue live and enjoy your life!

It is impossible to start saying why all this happened and why this individual did what he did because they don't even know who he is yet. After finding out who he is, then maybe we can begin to understand why this all happened. But with him being dead, there is the possibility that we will never fully understand why this person went off the way they did and committed such acts of atrocity.

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

Tipper, I'm assuming you have taken the name "Tipper" here after Tipper Gore, VP Al Gore's wife, who was probably best remembered for her campaign against pop music with violent and/or misogynistic lyrics. (She made a perfect ‘Miss Goody Two Shoes.’) Is my assumption correct? And if so, was your comment ironic, or intended to be taken literally?

When I see all the violence about and see it glorified by Hollywood profiteers---because they know that violence, like sex here, sells---it's hard not to hold the entertainment industry, not directly responsible, but certainly responsible to a very significant degree for creating a cultural climate that for some (even if a small minority) is the precipitating factor. I would not, however, argue there is a direct cause and effect relationship.

I don't think we should try to legislate every potential action. I do, however, say we should regulate handguns. The gun owners association's response was predictable and no less contemptible. Indeed such sophistry is beneath contempt. Yet they dutifully recite their stock phrases, ever ready to put the interests of gun manufacturers over that of the good of society as a whole.

The NRA (National Rifle Association) was not founded to promote the economic interests of gun manufacturers. It was founded, I believe, just after the Civil War by a group of Union Military Officers. The officers were reportedly appalled by the poor marksmanship of the soldiers under their command during the war. The organization’s purpose was to promote and improve marksmanship. This purpose changed very little over the next one hundred years, but private gun ownership increased exponentially during the 1960’s after the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. It was during this period they became, for all intents and purposes, a lobbying group for gun manufacturers.

A friend of mine is a member of the NRA. He explained their stand on all attempts to regulate handguns. It is a very simple one: Oppose every attempt to regulate, no matter how reasonable the proposal, because once you’ve conceded even one inch, the camel already has its nose in the tent, and little by little the whole house of cards will come down. This approach has served them well for the most part, but any policy that admits of no exceptions is bound to backfire in some way. Such was the case when some years ago they did not support law enforcement agencies’ country-wide opposition to the manufacture of a bullet that could penetrate bullet-proof vests. Their refusal to stand with a traditional ally in opposition to this so-called “cop killer bullet” cost them significant membership losses among law enforcement officials.

RE: 31 people shot in Virginia Tech University

Its mostly enabled by the availability of guns in the US. Anyone can get one legal or otherwise including full auto...............its another of America's myths of being the home of the free and the brave. The gun lobby will now use it to promote more gun ownership to protect themselves from crazzies. we don't need terrorists to do this to us we have our own home grown crazzies to do it ..........................long live Amerika..........

I for one think we live in the best of times, life is not perfect and never will be but for us in the west life is as easy and safe as it has ever been.

Father of my kids

A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an
attractive woman waving at him.
She says hello.

He's rather taken a back because he can't place
where he knows her from. So he says, "Do you know me?"
To which she replies, "I think you're the father of one of my kids."

Now his mind travels back to the only time he has
ever been unfaithful to his wife and says,
"My God, are you the stripper from my bachelor
party that I made love to on the pool table with
all my buddies watching while your partner whipped
me with wet celery???"
She looks into his eyes and says calmly,
"No,..................

I'm your son's teacher."

is love on CC

it seems the love subject comes up a lot here on cc, sometimes I believe I'm about to make that big giant leap step to. Lets just say you had a choice, what would you do first in your life to change your habits, attitude, or anything about your life to make sure your doing the right thing this time to be with a woman that you could spend the
rest of your life with.. This is to people here thinking about meeting people and taking that first step. I need some ideas (nahh just kidding, but if I had one thing to change, I quess I would cut back on
my drinking) but it seems we have a lot of people here chatting and
looking for love on this site and this might help them--cool
p.s.: I kinda agree with what GalaxylovesU said below, if the time, place and the willing of love happens here, well that's great and I wish you all the best-cool, just remember if you need a broken down sorry singer at your wedding,or heck even yet a person to park cars in

Cut Your Taxes In Half

I used to complain about my taxes. That is before my accountant,
Ralph Norwood, gave me a surefire way to cut them in half.

Perhaps you can use the same method if you choose.

As usual, at tax time I grumbled about the high amount of money
that I paid each year in taxes.

I wasn't concerned about what my tax dollars paid for. I was
only concerned that state, federal, social security and other
deductions took a huge chunk of my money.

So like the vast majority of us, I complained.

I sat in the chair as the accountant crunched through the
numbers. Grumbling and complaining, I sat.

"I've got a way to instantly cut your taxes in half,"
Mr. Norwood said.

My ears perked up. I was at full attention.

In half! Did he realize how much money that would save me?

Had I missed a deduction?
Did he have a surefire tax shelter?
Was there a legal loophole that I was eligible for?

"How?" I excitedly asked.

"Simple, just cut your salary in half," Norwood answered.

That was over ten years ago, but it taught me a lesson that
I will never forget.

We complain when we are running short and we complain when we
are blessed with much. The key is, there is always something to
complain about and there is always something to be thankful for.

You choose.

Thank goodness I have a high tax bill.

Psy, The story you cut and pasted is intended to convey a moral lesson more than any real tax advice. The truth is, in the US the tax structure is regressive in favor of the rich. Of course, who could be surprised at this. The tax laws are, in the main, written by the rich for the rich. While it is true that people in the highest income bracket are taxed at the highest rate, this is misleading because much of their income is taxed at lower rates (capital gains on stocks, for example) or sheltered, or put in tax-free "instruments" as the financial world calls them now, so it is no exaggeration to say that in some instances a rich man's chauffer may pay more tax than his boss. So, just because a guy earns 2x the salary of another, doesn't mean he will pay 2x the tax.

Some years ago, the Wall Street Journal ran an article about the widow of the late Mr. Dodge (of Dodge Auto fame). He left his wife $100,000,000. She put it all in Gov't tax free bonds that paid 5% interest per yr. Thus she had $5,000,000 in tax-free income per year, or just shy of $100,000 per week. Her chauffer, gardner, housekeeper all paid tax, while she paid $0. Somehow it doesn't seem fair.

I believe it was about an average person, otherwise he wouldn't have complained..
And anyway, most things turn around money, which sort of sucks :)

nope, my wife knows I visited this site before we met and she even wants to see what kind of shows the hosts do. She dosen't mind, but I don't go into vid nearly as much as when I was single.

RE: members & hosts

personally don't really feel guilty - will not be meeting anyone in real life from here so in my mind it is not cheating (in the same way i wouldn't say that a host working and playing here is cheating on her bf/husband).
maybe slightly guilty about the money spent but to be honest she spends money on things i think are a waste as well.

RE: members & hosts

Of course I feel guilty. The time and money I spend here could be spent elsewhere for other things that are more productive. Sexual addiction is an awful thing and makes you do things you wouldn't do. It would be impossible for most women to understand that you love them with all your heart but still come here to get your rocks off.

RE: members & hosts

I have never really believed in sexual addiction in the same way as an addiction to drugs or alcohol. It is just as excuse used by the sort of people who never take any responsibility for their own actions.

RE: members & hosts

It's the same. You start watching girls in video and u try to convince yourself you are not spending much and each morning you wake up with a resolution not to come to c.c. that day, but when night starts to fall then you rush to the pc and log in .c.c and you are still telling yourself: I just logged on to see who's online, however you see a new girl and you say to yourself: I will just go 5 minutes just to see her butt, I wank and I go out, however those 5 minutes get carried over 15, then 20, then 30 mins. and u ended up in a 1 hour session with that hot new host you thought u would just be 5 minutes... and you say it's not addiction?!?!

No, you will only meet scammers and fraudsters. Some are so good you will believe every lie that utters from their mouths. Yes, been there and bought the tshirt.

Reply

RE: Do you believe????

possible you only meet fraudsters & scammers because you are not honest.you get what you deserve, imo.

Reply

RE: Do you believe????

In general it is possible but the vast majority of hosts and members DO NOT come here for love. They use the suggestion of love to try and manipulate the other party to keep doing videos (hosts) or to get longer more intimate videos (members) but for most love is a joke here.

RE: Do you believe????

do you go to find love?love finds you,you don't find it but you must have open heart & mind.

Reply

RE: Do you believe????

love is all around in the state capital---run for a office and you will see

Reply

RE: Do you believe????

It's theoretically possible of course but I honestly think this is the last place you want to be . Most of the hosts work for studios - they have a boss telling them to make money and they talk to this boss and the other girls about how to manipulate the customers. The paying customers are just cash cows - and one big joke to them.

The words they use are to make money from you - not to be sincere. There are a few exceptions of course, but you'll risk getting burnt looking for them.

To anyone who wants to look for love here - don't waste your time.

No doubt I'll get lots of replies from delusional men who honestly think they have real friends here....maybe some of them do, but for every 1 there another 10 being misled.
