To host "me" - an explanation about economics
I understand what it is you're talking about and trying to achieve. I'm sure you feel that your income is getting tighter and that's why you posted about dollars and pounds and euros, and how prices don't feel right anymore. But in terms of money, here's what's actually going on...
In times past, the US dollar was always STRONGER in value than other international currencies. So, if you were a host and were paid in $USD, that means that once you converted your earnings to your own country's currency, it used to feel LARGER. It also means that your subsequent "buying power" -- in other words, when you went out to buy things, to shop, etc -- always felt LARGER. Simply put, it always felt like you had more disposable money at hand.
Now, keep this in mind too -- because the $USD was so strong against foreign currencies, it also meant that all of the goods and services that YOU make and export from your home countries (clothing, electronics, etc) COST LESS to buy here in the United States (or even when Americans traveled abroad and visited your countries). That is WHY foreign countries had such strong exports…and thus they also had strong, growing economies. In short, because the dollar was so strong…because it was worth so much more…it meant Americans could buy soooo much more of your stuff. And that is WHY the American economy is always referred to as a "consumer based economy." It's because Americans buying stuff and constantly spending their money kept the world economy churning and flowing.
BUT NOW…with the global recession taking place... the dollar is WEAKER against foreign currencies. That means everything gets flipped around. Everything is now the OPPOSITE. But there's good news and bad news in that.
The BAD news is if you are a host and get paid in dollars, it will now feel like you're making a bit LESS than you did before. That's because -- once the $USD is converted to your home country's currency -- your "buying power" isn't what it used to be. In short, the dollar doesn't buy "as much" as it used to. However, the GOOD news is that in the long run this will help everyone because it will now stabilize the world's economies and balance things out. Whether you love us or hate us, other than China, the United States and the U.S. dollar IS the driving force behind all of the world's economies. So it's vitally important to get the U.S. economy up and running. So, here's what all of this means…
Right now, a weaker dollar means American goods and services are CHEAPER to buy both here in the States AND for us to ship out as exports TO YOU. In other words, it's now becoming cheaper for you to buy OUR stuff instead of the other way around (where we were always buying from you). That means the American economy will get more of YOUR money…your money will now come to us (instead of our money going to you)...which helps to jump start the economic engine of the world.
That's because the more money that comes to American companies, the more they can hire people. And the more they can hire people, the more that Americans will earn and have money to spend. And once Americans have more disposable income to spend…well, then we're right back to where we started. We've come full circle. The value of the U.S. dollar will rise… which means goods & services from YOUR countries will once again be less expensive… so Americans will start buying YOUR exports again and spending money on YOU and in YOUR countries. And thus you'll be back to making more money.

But for the short version -- that's actually the lynch pin to what's gone so horribly wrong in global economics. In cave man days, it was simple -- you had hunted and killed a mastodon, so you had extra food to sell...meanwhile your neighbor had hunted a pack of saber tooth tigers and skinned them, so he now had warm clothes to sell. So you bartered and traded and everyone went home happy.
The problem with the world's economy is that far too many people just don't DO anything or actually MAKE anything anymore. That's the whole problem with a "consumer based economy". You can't have everyone just BUYING things. You can't have people just enjoying things. The problem with the world's economies is that far too many people want to be the Queen Bee and not enough people want to be the worker bee anymore.
The irony here? Hosts actually are worker bees and at the bottom of the economic food chain. Like my caveman analogy above, a host actually DOES provide a service that can be bartered for. Namely, she agrees to strip or rub herself (to get you off)...you pay her for her effort and time. That's actually a sound business model.
The only problem is...the service (so to speak) that hosts provide can easily and instantly be replaced. Since you're looking at hosts online, every single guy here could just as easily look at online porn and jerk off for free -- same end result. Ultimately, hosts are in a tough spot. That's because they are totally dependent on guys having DISPOSABLE income, otherwise their work and client base dries up in a heart beat and their "job" has absolutely no real value.
Going back to your point, the problem is that America -- and other countries as well, but to a lesser degree -- have lived beyond their means for FAR too long, and only managed to stay afloat by borrowing money. It's not all about 'America'. There are major economies other than the USA driving the world, not least the European Union. How nice it would be if the stereotypical american were not so insular and blinkered to recognise that there is a world outside their borders, which much of the time really goes about its life without any input or need for 'America'.

Your post seems pretty patronising to me and in one area overcomplicates things. It's nice to see how this thread has become your typical anti-USA thread when all the thread starter was doing was trying to explain something. Yes, a number of his points are inaccurate, lol, but he did not have any type of attitude behind his post. But slowly but surely it all became one big ugly fight.
All of this is even more ridiculous given how many hosts friends I have that still want to move to the USA even with the world's economic crisis still going on. And I especially loved the post that said most hosts make more than most members. I don't have any definite information about what all the members here make, or what all the hosts make either, but if I was going to guess, I would be very surprised if most members did not make a lot more than most hosts.
The bottom line is that currencies go up and currencies go down, and the last few years, the dollar has been pretty weak overall. Nevertheless, I believe that versus the British pound, the dollar has always been weaker, but the dollar over the long term is pretty much improving against the British pound. In fact, the pound, which is about $1,60 today, is close to its all time lowest levels versus the dollar right now.

Versus the euro, it is pointless to have a discussion. The Euro is only about 10 years old so there is no way to predict what will happen. Versus China, again it is pointless since China artificially controls the value of its currency more than other countries and keeps its currency low in order to give its companies an advantage when they sell goods to other countries. (The USA, and I am sure other countries too, also do this but not nearly as much.)
The entire world's economy is all connected. The fact that there is a WORLD economic crisis should tell everyone that. And yes, China is becoming more of a player, but I don't think the USA is going anywhere anytime soon, lol. Sorry, you are stuck with us, and it is most likely that the USA's economy will improve before Europe's which means U.S. interest rates will rise faster than those in Europe which means the dollar will start to catch up to the Euro.
So take heart, my dear hosts. If you wait about 6 months to a year, you will once again have a lot more Euro's for the dollars you earn here. The problem is your prices are much higher than those in the USA and will continue to remain so. In the USA, things like gasoline/petrol, food, clothes, housing seem to be cheaper than those items in other countries based on my unscientific discussions with hosts and observations when I watch and read the news. What does this mean? Despite the negative comments, hosts will continue to want to marry American members, lol, so stop picking fights with them. And whatever you do, don't start posting that prices are too low in the general forum. It is never good business to tell your customers that they should pay more. (Well, unless your customer is a money slave, lol.)

The pound is a long way from its alltime lowest level against the dollar. It was less than $1.1 in 1985.

I am talking about the general trend of the pound versus the dollar, and in historical terms, $1,60 is a lot closer to $1,10 than the all time high for the pound versus the dollar. Even if you just picked the life-time of a 40 year old member, the pound is closer to $1,10 than its high in those 40 years.

The pound was below or around $1.10 for a while around March 2005.At its lowest it reached $1.03. The current rate of around $1.60 is close to the average over the past 40 years (or since the end of Bretton-Woods). This thread has not become an Anti-USA thread. One does not have to be anti USA to want to inject some balance after the totally USA centric post of the orginal poster.

Now when i grew up and know so much better whats really important in life-if id have to pick the country to move to id pick some with more of a cultural history lol. Usa is a young country and doesnt have much of a history and culture, comparing to wonderful England, France or Italy for instance. If AxB, for example, has great pics and her pics are better than other hosts' pics, why shouldn't she be a cover again? Why make a change to a host who doesn't look as good? That makes no sense.
This isn't about giving every host a chance. It is about running a business, and that means choosing hosts with the best pics. Now there is something to be said for variety, of course, but while variety might make some current members happy, these people are already members and cover pics aren't going to really impact how much they spend. It is for NEW members that cover pics are much more relevant so why shouldn't CC pick the best? Sports teams promote their stars, not their role players, after all, for the same reason.
Also CC needs to consider which hosts are good at getting guys to visit them a lot. It makes no sense to pick a host that isn't good at holding onto her members and getting lots of video even if she had good pics. CC should promote those hosts which will attract new members and get them to keep coming back to the site over and over again. Then, the other hosts will benefit since these new members will sooner or later start looking for some other hosts to visit as well. But it should all start with the best pics and the top hosts in terms of having a lot of members and do well in terms of a lot of video.
Assuming they are entering their pics and their pics are good, I would start with AxB, ChanelDoll, and Casablancka. These hosts take nice pics and are popular. AxB is your classic supermodel . ChanelDoll is your sexy seductress. And Casablancka is an exotic, natural beauty.... kind of like a brunette AxB but everything is real. It would be nice to add some fresh faces if they merited it, but I would start with these 3 if their pics look good.

I don't know. I don't think it's about glamour pics. You may be enamoured by that look, but not everyone is. I see fake looking, photoshop air-brushed pics and that just by nature give me assumptions about the person sitting in front of the cam who uses that style to sell herself.

I would agree with you in other contexts in the business world, but not on CC. The product here is really the hosts, not the contests, so it is for the host to keep making herself interesting. The site just needs to get new guys' attention to get new members, and the best way to do that is put your best hosts (as measured by looks and ability to get video) on the cover whether or not they are "fresh faces". I would be much happier to see fresh new faces for the contest as well. It's time, I think most would agree that the same faces at every contest gets tiresome. Let's have a little spice, introduce us all to some one new. All, of the hosts collectively make this a succesfull business. No matter how much money a select few bring it, CC could never survive without the myriad and variety of its offerings. Let's reward those who are here week after week and not appear at intervals that seem to coincide with contests.

How do you know that the "new faces" you saw were simply the best pics submitted for that particular contest. I know of at least two hosts who had been cover girls more than once who, for very valid personal reasons, decided not try for the most recent contests. Yes CC needs top quality pics for the cover girls but it does get boring for members (this member anyway) and I think hosts too, if we always see the same faces.

Wrong! The best way to "promote" CC is to bring out the new. The same after same after same every contest gets monotonous, is bad marketing and doesn't help to keep the members that come here daily interested. The favorites (read your favorites) will be here nevertheless. And their fans will visit them contest or not. There have been many complaints by members posted in recent past for some "new blood" here and an equal number of posts that "so and so" is only around for the contests. It's time for SOMETHING NEW!

I agree with you! Problem is that some (not all) of the cover girls of recent contests have become mostly "contest only" hosts. That's why some new faces should be presented, and of course CC should choose ones that help bring in revenue in the long haul.

damfin you are not 100% right... for instance, last week I had 5 stars and all videos I did were with my regular viewers, except for a couple of times when someone entered my room for a sec and left. after that my rating dropped - for no reason at all. it would be only fair if members were allowed to rate girls after they spend at least 2 mins in video.

I think $5 or 5 minutes, whichever came first would be a good policy. Most hosts are over $1,00, so the $5 would come first. But under your two minute idea, a member that is trying to hurt a host with a bad rating could do so for say $1,50 if she was $0.,75/min. On the other hand, 1 minute is fair if the host is expensive at $5 and perhaps stalling or something.

Perhaps the rating system should be weighted. If a member spends $100 his rating should be worth 100 times more points than someone that spends $1 trying to hurt a model.

According to CC it is the most recent 10 members whose ratings are averaged. If a host who is generally rated 5 star is maliciously given a one star rating she immediately drops to 4.5 stars. She then has to have 10 guys in vid to get back to 5 stars. Belive me it can take a while.

If CC raised the minimum price, the business would go to other sites where the prices are lower. There are discount clubs, bonus credits and offers at many sites so it is not uncommon to pay less than $1 per minute.

If you are 'good' and have regular members, then you can raise your price as high as you like and if your regulars put up with it then you will still be busy. However, market forces are at work here and there is a limit that even your regulars wont go beyond! if you are no 'good' then better set a price that means you get some business!!!! Minimum price of $2 would destroy cc and all it stands for - A site set up by members for members!!!! U are free to set your price where u want but dont be surprised if your 'trade' gets less!!!! Totally agree. I tried other sites in the past but now never bother with them. CC Hosts are free to 'play' with prices just like a company does. This enables you to test the prevailing current market demand and what price it will bear at that moment.

If you check out the sites with higher per minute prices more carefully you will find that many of them pay hosts a lower percentage than CC and have more severe rules for hosts regarding charge backs and are not so reliable in making their payments as CC. You should also understand that the low priced hosts help keep members on CC. Most of the hosts I have been a regular with have a rate of $2.00 or more but if I have an expensive month and funds are tight I may decide to spend time with a lower priced host. Next month I am back with my regs. I am a member of two other higher priced sites but spend far less money on them than on CC.

I wonder how feasible it is to weight the rating system based on time actually spent with a host. It would perhaps seem fairer that a better review goes with someone who spends longer in a session.
But I do also wonder how many stay in a session trying to tease out some behaviour from a host only to ultimately be denied. Does that make them happy customers or is it just demonstrating a clever manipulative host?

Well i bet u are a member. Thats why u have no idea what u are talking about. There are a lot of people in this world (real and virtual-doesnt really matter) that enjoy doing something mean to others. They have different reasons for this-jealousy, envy, anger etc...Here on cc in particular-there can be even more reasons for this. Like for instance-one jealous host asks her regular to go to another hosts vid for 1 sec and give her bad rating (there can be again lots of reasons for this-personal relationships, jealousy)-lots of hosts do it. Then, imagine a member who just cant take no as an answer-he asks for something that a host doesnt wanna do, he leaves angry and then comes back under different name just to give her 1 star again and again. Seriously, im on cc for like 4 years, have seen a lot of guys who will gladly do such a thing. Again-for different reasons.

Yes, yes, raise the prices, and "try" to earn big bucks on just one vid. Many of us will be out of here and you will be seating alone in front of the pc while we visit other girls at other sites offering free vids, discounts, and club bonuses. well fist of all u cant compare a host with a worker, cause it s not the same...seling sex, seduction etc must be payed better and it is. host are judged bcz of thier job- some izolated themselfs and dotn have friends bcz their work is seen with bad eyes, they cant do this for all their life (most of the guys want fresh, young beatiful girls) and because it s not the same to entretain a man for 1 h in vid and to pack some boxes or i dont know what else.

Using your calculation of $14 net per hour gives a total net income of around $2,520 every 4 weeks. There are hosts that earn this or more but most make less than this. When you are a worker in a company the company normally provides you with equipment and lights and heats the place where you work. Hosts have to do that out of what they earn.

I have talked with enough hosts about this to qualify as a statistically significant sample. I know some big earners but fewer than than 5 per cent of the hosts I have spoken with average over $2000 per month. You can believe me or not as you wish but I have more evidence to support what I say than those who suggest that most hosts are making thousands each month.

I did not forget that most hosts do not declare their income. My basis of comparison was the net earnings (after deductions) of $14.00 per hour against chat hosts undeclared earnings.

Hehe.. I expect many flippant responses but the truth is there WAS life before the internet and there was even international relationships too. Sadly a lot of that has been forgotten and the art of real contact with people, by phone , by letters , by visits has all but been forgotten.

I guess that is kinda what the internet has really done to us. Made us full of connections but eroded the contact we have with people. This was not always the case and in the early days of 'social networking', before the web, before webcams , before flickr and facebook, there was a certain sense of innocence and trust that has been lost because you used to get to KNOW people, not just personas.

Is this post just for hosts? I had a year and a hlaf relationship with a girl. I was 23, she was 21. We seemed very serious, she was beautiful, soft, gentle and very feminine. The bad news is a ton of hosts just leave without any warning or goodbyes. Happens more often than not. The good news is every now and then you get an old host return to CC. Not a lot but a few do. Also sometimes a host will disappear for a few days, weeks or months because of school, vacation, family things...etc. Just be patient. If she is not back within 5 years ..move on.

I'll never understand that about Hosts. They always say they like to make money & be responsible. They say they want security. The say they are attracted to men with ambition and who work hard. A man who could provide for them or be good a partner in life...

As the home page is viewable to everyone, members or not, then I doubt you will find explicit content put there. As you know you do not need to click on anything to jump right in and start chatting to hosts. This was how I was first introduced here. It works out well for CC, encourages membership and means CC can legitimately posts links to the homepage where normal adult content would not be allowed.

Interesting question. I know that a minority of guys come to this site simply for chat and flirting with hosts without expecting or wanting anything sexual. These guys are clearly a minority. Without knowing who your are it is difficult to say if your appearance has anything to do with it but I doubt it. Some guys get shy, get seflconscious, get a bit of guilt or morality and bail. Don't take it personally but make notes of who seems upset and send them a CC mail...saying your enjoyed the chat and please come back. Good hosts keep notes on good customers. It is a business after all.

I can think of three reasons.
First, they just want to see if they can get you to strip. It is more like a game to them.
Second, with all due respect, your show may be boring or your lingerie might not be that exciting. I've seen some hosts that wear lingerie that you would expect a grandmother to wear and it is a big turn off. I have also seen some hosts that aren't used to giving a show take way to long to strip (not necessarily to stall, but just because they don't know what they are doing) and have no clue how to be sexy during a striptease.
Third, you are taking too long to strip and the member gets frustrated and just leaves since, unlike reason #2, he thinks you're stalling on purpose. He might wait until after you show something to satisfy his curiosity, but in terms of playing, he has lost his mood.
I have never left because of the first reason, but I have left because of the second and third. I wouldn't just leave without saying goodbye if we had a nice conversation since that would be rude and offensive. But when a host puts on a bad show, I do get a lot of phone calls and have to go, lol.

As a member, first, I do not expect a host in glam to get naked for me. Glamour to me, is about beauty, outward and inward, and the joy for me is in getting to know a host's inner beauty. Well, the same scenario happened to me not long ago. I was cam chatting to my host-friend.
